I just brought home a new cleaner shrimp from my LFS and noticed a white spot on its side. It appears to be on the surface and not internal. Any one have anything similar or may be able to help identify?

Are you sure it isn’t under the shrimp’s shell/carapace? This shrimp commonly has an Epicaridean isopod as a parasite, that looks just like this.I just brought home a new cleaner shrimp from my LFS and noticed a white spot on its side. It appears to be on the surface and not internal. Any one have anything similar or may be able to help identify?
There are some YouTube videos on removing these, but cutting into a crustaceans shell is risky, that won’t regrow until they molt again. I would contact the dealer for replacement or just leave it alone - word is these aren’t always fatal.

It sounds like I would be better off leaving it alone as the LFS doesn't have a great return/replacement policy, and cutting into it myself could lead to another set of issues. I appreciate the feedback.
