Can anyone help me ID the blue stuff growing? It almost looks like a soft coral of some type. It’s a hitchhiker of some kind probably from a frag. Whatever it is, it loves light.

Might be Hypnea pannosa, a desirable red macroalgae (Rhodophyta) with a bluish coloration. Awesome find!

That’s it! I got a good look at it with one of the magnet magnifier glasses.

I bought some a few months ago and my tangs ate it all, I thought. Forgot all about it. I moved these rocks into another tank and it must’ve been waiting for its moment.
Definitely a slow grower but beautiful.

This looks to me to be dictyota which likes high nutrients tanks and needs to be removed physically with some effort. A dental pick is a helpful tool with this. Some cleaners that will help control this after cleaning are:
Chiton snails, pitho crabs, Emerald crabs, pencil urchins and turbo grazer snails.

I'm not sure if this is Dictyota, which develops flat blades as opposed to having a tubular growth pattern.
