Mystery bonus coral

Ended up with a bonus coral. Anyone know what it is? It's about 2.5"x1.5". The importer wasn't sure.

I’d say Acanthastrea bowerbanki. I‘ve got two myself. Nice color on this one.

Looks hungry. A hungry acan would enjoy LPS pellets, small chunks of fish food, and whatever might drift into its mouth.

M Y S I S! Not kidding when I say my LPS alone consume 1 cube of PE mysis a day! Running coral-only so I need to get nutrient import Somewhere

I feed the entire tank corals and fish alike, 2 cubes of spirulina gut loaded brine shrimp, 1 cube of reef plankton and a cube of marine cuisine for carnivores melted in a cup and basted in the tank. I have another mix of powdered that I give the sps periodically.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Gives me a good start. I was thinking Acan but that's not something I've dabbled in. Deffinately welcome to its new home. I was taking those pictures during its first feed of mysis in reef roid slurry. It ate about a quarter cube on its own.

Bowerbankis are Homophyllia, not Acanthastrea. I would say this is not a bowerbanki due to color scheme and flesh texture; bowerbankis have a more "velvety" flesh texture while pachyseptas have more septal beading and "folds in the flesh."

Bowerbankis are Homophyllia. I would say this is not a bowerbanki due to color scheme.

My bad! I quoted the wrong part of your post.. I asked this question not to long ago as I have the same exact one that’s gotten pretty big now! Almost looks like a lobo lol..

What is it? Enchinata?

It was given to me awhile back as a enchinata but I don’t think that’s what it is.. looks almost like a baby scolly lol.. it’s about the size of a 50 cent piece.

Yes, Acanthastrea Bowerbanki or Acanthastrea Pachysepta. @encrustingacro can tell you which one exactly, though larger polyps over 1 1/2 inches are almost certainly A. Pachysepta

Yeah he said pachysepta I grabbed the wrong part of his post to bring here.. it’s a killer that’s for sure! Anything that has touched it has dissolved haha!

Yep, 100% a pachysepta. Used to be under Lobophyllia. Many people have made the mistake of putting them in their lobo gardens lol...

Yep! A. Pachysepta! As you've discovered you can't really put much near them, though during the day my nemenzophyllia is almost touching my A. Pachysepta, though I haven't seen any aggression yet. Beautiful specimen I might add! Here's mine, can't really appreciate it as much as this is at night but during the day it's a deep red
