No clue where this guy even came from. Just appeared today. What is it?

Looks like a Chiton with some algae on its shell. Good cuc.

limpet? or Chiton? if you can get a top down shot it will be easier to tell.. check out lionfish lair as well

I was thinking whats already been said. At first I thought abalone but the photo of it on the glass does not show any epipodial tentacles coming from it.
