So about a week ago this guy popped up on a rock I’ve had for about 9 months that has a few zoa colonies and 4 mushrooms.
It looks like a clove polyp to me, but I’ve never had cloves in this tank, and it’s not growing as fast as the cloves I have in my wife’s tank(3-4 heads/week).

I know the pic isn’t great but maybe good enough to tell. I tried with my camera but didn’t turn out any better.

Have you transferred anything at all from your wife’s tank? Did you start the tank with live rock? Also could have hitchhiked on another frag or something. Hard to say really

I used dry rock(it was free), but this tank is around a year old and haven’t added anything but some hermits and a strawberry crab since before chrismass. The odd thing about the polyp it has a few darker pedals almost bluish, and it doesn’t look like the two polyps we have in the wife’s tank, and I don’t bring anything from the wife’s tank into this tank because I’m trying to get hers to grow out more.

Gotcha. It’s anyones guess really. Obviously a frag or invert brought it in at some point. Stuff like that doesn’t always pop right out. It could have been months before and it’s just showing up now where u can see it. Just keep an eye on it and remove it if it turns out to be unwanted

Sympodium??

Haha! That would be awesome, I’ve been waiting for my guy to grab me some blue.

I hope it gets bigger so I can get a better pic, but it’s gotta be a clove of some flavor.

Thanks for the help. Maybe one of the crabs or something brought it in.
