So here’s a little background on the tank this bacterial sludge came from it’s a Red Sea 200 XL it’s been running for about 9 months did a dry start, started with recycle tank water, add microbact 7 used Carib Sea Live sand currently running a 15w aqua UV Sterilizer and Sm reef octopuss skimmer.About once a week I do a whole sump clean out since an unnatural amount of bacterial sludge grows in it .Do you guys think add more bacterial additives would help alleviate this issue? Also every time I gravel vac the sand it smells like egg .Hydrogen Sulfide?

These are flagellates- not Dino and forms when there is light, organic sand very little water movement
Increase flow and it will stop forming
Can be removed with a sponge or rag.
net any loose matter you can capture and discard
