Mystery spot on Sunburst Anthias

Friend has a Sunburst Anthias in QT that just arrived. It has a lump under its mouth/ chin area. It is a bit more red in this area but the fish is eating and acting normal. Is quite large for most of what I have had experience with. Looking for any input or advice. He has begun treating with Metro and Kanaplex at this time.

Sounds like a bacterial infection. Treating with Metro and Kanaplex is a wise course of action. You can add Furan-2 to this if the infection starts looking worse or spreads.

i"ve actually seen this quite a bit lately at the store. I just had a butterfly and 3 clowns with lumps similar to this (not all in the same spot as yours). I treated with metro, furan 2 and kanaplex and all 4 fish were fine after. No more lumps and all have happy homes now. Good luck!

Thank you for the prompt replies! When he first brought it to my attention, my first reaction was to treat with Metro and Kanaplex. Many of time when I purchased new fish I will profilacticaly treat with these. I'll give him a call in the morning and give him a heads up on Furan 2 as well. That anthias is really good size and beautifully colored. just want to do whatever we can to beat this.
