So I redid my rockwork today and when I moved my stuff around, dug around to push a coral rock thing into the sand I uncovered this dead thing, didn't even realize it until I stepped back to look at my rocks. It was sticking out, looked like, roots of some sort? I genuinely thought I had a plant growing in my sand! Then I prodded it with my target feeder and got it in my net. I was sort of scared to touch it.

What the heck is this?
It was rigid, not soft, looked like a root with little roots at the end. Now that I look at it it almost looked like a shrimp when it was out of the water- but it isn't. I haven't lost any shrimp and this was about 2.5 inches long!

Help! Hope someone knows what it is.

I don't have a feather duster though o_O

Since when in this hobby do we have to have something...for it to be in our tanks. ;)

And it might not be thats just a guess one that pick up some roots or stringy substrate, they glue pick up stuffs thats around them.
Plus it looks hollow to me...is it?

but also know its not a spaghetti worm ...they arnt hard/ridged and a dead one would be just like any other polychaete worm a limp slimy mess.

True true. It's weird because it wasn't in or on anything I have put it. I used small live rock and dipped all my corals and inspected everything prior to putting it in. It seems so big. My tank is only 3 months old! It was not hollow, the little hair like things were all out of one side and along the bottom a bit. They looked like tiny shrimp arms. It literally looked like a ginger root! I'm totally boggled on what it is. I don't even mind that it was in there I guess, I'm just curious now haha
