This mystic is going absolutely nuts. I can’t get it all scraped off to stop the growth. The torch keeps it at bay on one side but it’s going straight to some zoas that I really like. Will the Monty cover and kill them or will they keep each other in check. Funny cause I could hardly grow the mystic sunset when I had a frag plug on that rock and eventually pulled it. Some got off the rock and in 6 months it has grown crazy. Its a pretty pink though just need to figure if I need to relocate the zoa

Same thing happening to me, I think the monti is winning and will go over the zoas and cover them.

I would make a kalkwasser paste if you take the rock out apply the edge of monti near the zoas it set in bucket tank water for 5 -10 minutes or thick liquid get syringe turn off all water flow squirt on once it sits you can siphon the kalk out. Problem solved the monti will be fine.

I’ve never had a problem with montis and zoas unless it a plating species and shades them. Used the method above to keep them from overtaking acro’s. I learned to isolate encrusting montis lol

If anything I would expect the zoas to adjust as they reach for light and potentially start to grow on the monti if they pick up their growth pace. I’d just take a wait and see approach for now and frag away as necessary because both the zoas and that sunset look stunning in this photo!

The zoas will loss eventually... Nearly everything will.

Why is it when you baby something it does only so so but as soon as I started not caring and wanted it gone it blows up and turns into super coral[emoji849] thanks for the tips everyone

Almost all encrusting monti's will do this.
It's best to try and isolate them as much as possible growing on their own rock.
