N03 absorption

Cannot keep detectable N03 without dosing. There's no algae to speak of and N03 always test 0 unless I dose. Any idea as to what sucking it up? Have 6 small SPS frags in the tank.

There is more algae than you think in the aquarium. Shut the lights off and watch the nitrate accumulate.
 
A relatively deep sand bed like 2-3" can really keep your nitrates low. Mine stays around 0.25 ppm evening feeding 8-10 cubes a day of frozen food.

You know that how? It reads higher values in other salt water?

A zero value can be a real zero, or a problem with the test.
 
If I test a few days after dosing ay 10 ml of N03 I'll have reading. After a few more days I'm reading 0, if that makes sense.

Ok, yes it does. I’d dose more or more often. :)
