I began working on the tank around the beginning of June. It is 1/2 inch acrylic. The dimensions are 4’ x 2’ x 2’. 066715B0-8997-4BF5-A253-F045559410C2.jpeg

I started working on the stand a couple days ago and have since then finished. I used Douglas fir 2 x 6s for the stand and some acx plywood to go on the bottom of the stand and some finished maple plywood for the top. The stand is 51 x 27 x 30.

I am going to have a carbon and gfo reactor as well as a calcium reactor. I am using a 20g long for the sump. Next week, I will have the overflow box and glass panels to silicone in the sump. I also ordered a coralife super skimmer too.

Looking good...signing up to follow along.

New update! I drilled 3 holes in my tank with one 40 mm hole saw and a 60 mm hole saw. I put in my overflow box in the 2 60 mm holes. I bought the Eshopps eclipse L and it has 3 different spots to run plumbing. One for emergency and the other two for the actual inputs. I did the bean animal (not pictured) style overflow for this setup. 3B071F03-C293-4FB2-AE09-C188DE6D0E8E.jpeg E28902F3-5033-497E-A773-F8D696E96058.jpeg
I also brought my tank inside and put it on the stand and also attached my wye return nozzle. I also did some plumbing down the back of the tank. We are planning to get a carpenter to put cabinets on the tank. E9DB007B-D33A-4285-88FB-EC5B50BC61E5.jpeg 3DF3163C-8421-494D-AD6B-CD47E6CA55DF.jpeg CADD0FE8-2D04-4560-A503-30E6328BAAB0.jpeg

Sorry that I haven’t updated my thread in a while. Through the rest of August I hooked up the sump completely to a dual 4 inch filter sock holder as well as siliconing in custom dividers for the sump. We got the protein skimmer in the correct area to function. As well as adding in a MarinePure block in the refugium as well as hooking up the return pump.

In September through October I added sand to the aquarium to prevent the dust from being super cloudy inside the tank and let it sit. I used about 6 20 pound bags of pink Fiji arag alive from CaribSea.

Meanwhile I was preparing about 90 pounds of reef saver dry rock to put into a 36 gallon trash can to allow it to cure the dry rock for 3 weeks as the stuff that comes from BRS is bleached before hand and in general is very clean. I used a 5 stage rodi system from brs to get my water going into the trashcan. I also put in a maxspect gyre xf250 which I am very pleased with and two 200 watt Cobalt aquatics neotherm heaters. Then I re-added my rocks to the aquarium and pumped up water from a bucket and into the display.

From then on I turned off my skimmer and removed my filter socks to run Dr. Tims to cycle my aquarium in 8 days. My current readings are 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 10 nitrate with a ph of 8.1 which aren’t that bad of readings.

Also I got my first fish. Two juvenile clownfish. 1 tangerine onyx percula ($65) and a black occy ($40). I feed them pellets currently and are doing very well. My next project is setting up a couple of quarantine tanks for future friends.

Sweet! Looking good! I love the look of an orange and brown Clown together.

Weekly update...
I was running out of plugs and needed a power strip that could shut off different plugs if I needed to. (I got a tunze osmolater BTW and am hooking it up to a bucket while I build my reservoir.) 1A8519BA-940C-4C41-B9B5-16A5360E7E3C.jpeg
Meanwhile the clowns are doing great and eating very well to the point where I am seeing some growth. They also really haven’t changed the water quality at all. Sorry for the blurry pics. They really don’t want to stay still!

While I wait to get a goby I am setting up my 10g hospital tank using water from my main tank and doing a little water change whilst soaking my media in the sump. My fw tank is right next to it.
