Sad really what our fishy friends go through...

I know our supply chains are different, if this appeared in the States it would be treated for all sorts when it is just a fish that was starved for shipping (don't get me started) and just wants to eat.
It actually wants to eat all day, grazing and bits from me, the grazing is the key!
There are 4 or 5 macros in here and micros, they do not just eat loads of one thing they balance their intake and mix it up, I am seriously thinking of setting a system up just to grow out baby tangs! ;)

Tang Daddy!!

There is a ten year old Gem that resides at my lfs, belongs to a friend, he is "between" tanks but he did tell me that he is having another extension built so my guess is bigger than his last 8 x 6 x 3, he rarely comes in to the lfs and never goes to see his gem, it eats from my fingers because I spoil it when I go in, trophy fish, it makes me sad when I think about it so I try not to to think about it but enjoy "my gem" whilst I can. :)

Change of plan with convict, now getting one of three different veggie flakes every 2 - 3 hours, it seems to go back to grazing more quickly where it is like the frozen slows it down whilst it digests it, I still have about 4 other flakes to try, 3 of which are everyday feeds so it needs to learn those. :)

You are such a good fish keeper... :) keep up the good work Simon.

Thanks, the last two I saw go through the shop starved, I got them to move one into a frag tank so it had stuff to graze and it lasted a couple of weeks longer, I hate how they ship them starved and it got me thinking, apart from parasites I can feed and grow the baby ones because I feed them what they want and need and not what people think they need.
I tried a mysis pellet yesterday and it was too big so I went down to vitalis marine xs and it wolfs them down.
I am only feeding frozen last thing now.
I wish I could do a system just to "condition" baby tangs, friends took the yellow naso I tried and when I took it back everyone said "that's not the same fish!" ;)
From my desk chair last night.

Convict update, spot the pink streak!

Feeding, I don't have a magic food but I have a few things that usually help.
The xs pellets worked, the ones below are too big for it.
The nori flake has been taken by any fish I tried it on, convict loves it.
The probiotic appears to be catnip for fish, fishnip, someone right that down and attribute it to me, where was I, oh yeh, it floats well so I sprinkle some in and it gradually gets into the water column over about ten minutes, keeps them amused!
I will try for a better pic in a bit to show progress. ;)

The first pic shows the good well but the second really shows the bad!
Having watched Poto go through this twice I know how the weight gain works you just need to check the stripes.
Concave is bad, check out the tummy stripes and also it shows in the face and chest, slowly going in the right direction, it now eats pretty much anything it can fit in it's mouth! ;)
