Thank you for the very nice words, yes I do still run it that way.
The top tank is 1650 x 650 x 450 mm shallow. Fully divided at 1000 with a 75 mm swim through hole.
Both sides have a weir box, 2 drains and one return, shared sump.
The skimmer has been off for months so it runs two heaters and two returns, oh and a refugium!
The display refugium is all caulerpa, it is like a jungle in there, I never touch the sump except to clear the surface (note to self needs doing dude), if I harvest it is from the top tank judging on growth.
I dose additives manually and also top up with ro manually twice a day.
No water changes unless there is a very good reason.
I do try and remember to test my kh once a month!
Just under 50% of the water volume is not in the display, I don't call it "natural", it is run a bit more "naturally" than most! :)

There is nothing natural about a captive reef tank. In our living rooms, they can be elegant or sleek but in all cases, they command center attention.

In one of your early post on this thread, you mentioned how time consummming this tank upkeep was and that you would only recommend it to a retired person. Your photography paitience is producing amazing pictures. Keep them coming.

Thank you, it is time consuming in so much as observation is the key to me, daily maintenance takes less than 5 minutes.
The display refugium end is the main nutrient export, caulerpa and good flow.
I keep 1 patch of caulerpa in the display and just watch how it grows, I harvest the runners off about once a month.
If the re-growth is pretty good I don't harvest, if it slows then I harvest.
The sump refugium is reasonably packed and deals with clarity or larger bits, I don't disturb it except to clear the scum off the surface.

Btw, I noticed the baby trying to give daddy kisses in the pic!

We need a selfie of Simon and the baby tang trading kisses ;) I promise not to share it with your biker buddies :D;Hilarious;)

I like the idea of your display refugium. Will you show us more pics of it?

I haven't seen Dinky. Does he stay hidden?

I will, I took a pic earlier in the week.
I have a food flirt with most of the "Mobile" fish now, even the lion will flirt with me now! ;)
I picked up the camera (I can't see this from the desk btw), that is it's cave in the pectinia, I only noticed it once I got the pic on the computer, it is fine! :)

I know, I know, I have been lax, stuff on my mind that I don't want on my mind so the max chill button has been pressed!
In the aftermath (it's not that bad, for dramatic effect) of the slight re-scape, some acros went glued again today, dark sulky, should me fine! ;)
