Crazy things happen in our reef tanks. I've had a few of those "never seen it from day one" experiences, but one of my favorite stories was when I set up my first reef tank....I ordered two pistol shrimp from an on-line vendor, thinking it was such a brilliant idea because if one didn't make, I'd have the other...not so brilliant. They both arrived alive, so I added them both. It sounded like machine gunfire at my house for a few days. I felt terrible because I thought they were just killing each other and it would end badly (at least for one of them). The gunfire died down and I figured I was down to one. I wish I had pictures of this moment, but they BOTH popped out of the same burrow one day and I just about passed out! They lived happily together in the same burrow for a long time and both survived the transfer into my 90 for a good while. Crazy story, but one with a happy ending. ;JoyfulAbout three weeks ago I saw a molt drift across the display, it was small like large sexy shrimp sized.
It took me hours to figure out what it was as my l n hawk finished my shrimps off, about two years ago I put a small black squat lobster in, never seen it from day one.![]()
