Howdy folks!
Thought I should start a new build thread to document the progress of my new tank. Since the tear down of my first tank, which was a 20 gallon Nuvo AIO, I have been taking lots of time planning, researching and collecting all of the items needed. I'm excited to get this thing wet! [emoji4]
This will be a slow process as I really want to do things right and have the best understanding I can for all of the components of this tank. I will apologize now for all of the questions.
Low and behold - here she is!
I know it might not look like much but I love this tank. It is a Visio 60e. I searched for a long time for a tank with similar dimensions and finally found this one, with the stand for a great price at a LFS. I really wanted a a tank with less height for the maintenance aspect..
As far a equipment goes I will be running:
Bubble Magus Curve 5 Skimmer
Jebao DCT-4000 Return Pump
29 Gallon DIY Sump. (glass baffles, 3 compartments and a bubble trap) (Drain, filter sock and skimmer --- refugium --- return)
2 Jebao PP-4 Wavemakers
2 Eheim heaters 100w & 75w
I haven't decided on lighting yet but i do have an AI Prime HD from my old tank and I might buy 1 or 2 more for this tank.
Also haven't decided on getting a media reactor as of yet.
As far as plumbing - I did have a bit of a hiccup with the LFS and the plumb of this tank but it has been taken care of for now. Running a basic durso set up with a 1 inch PVC stand pipe and the return pipe is plumbed with 3/4 of spa-flex tubing. I figured I have about 3 feet of head pressure.
I'm basically looking about 70 gallons of total water volume. I plan of only having about 10-15 gallons of water in the sump which leaves me plenty of room in case of a power outage and a siphon occurs.
As far as rock goes I am planning on going with dry macro rocks. Still haven't placed my order yet but hopefully in the next week or so I can get it going. Haven't decided on substrate yet.
Livestock and stocking goals:
-Mated pair of mocha clowns that I had in my previous tank.
- Yellow kole eye tang or whitetail bristletooth tang
-Some type of blenny.
-Mandarin (once I get a thick pod population)
Haven't decided on other fish as of now. Will have a few cool inverts as well. And some pretty feather dusters.
Corals will consist of softies and LPS mainly. I plan of having GSP grow on and cover my corner overflow box. I love Acan's and Euphyllia's and bright colored zoathids. Really I'm open to anything.
I think that's it for now! I would gladly take any advice or tips and tricks that anyone has for me! I'm open to anything and really enjoy learning more about this hobby. [emoji4]
