Name that “weed”

So we have had this for a while, and I’m sure someone in here is going to tell me it’s a “weed” but I find it pretty nonetheless I’d like to know what this is lol. The blue/purple poly “ish” flower”ish colony pictured

My understanding is that Sympodium (while often called Clove Polyps) and Clove Polyps (a term used for a number of different corals, but apparently usually those from the genus Clavularia) are technically different - the only reason I point this out is that I've heard Sympodium is generally much less invasive (at least when compared to things like true clove polyps, blue anthelia/sarcothelia, etc.)

Basically, I've heard that some are highly invasive, but some are actually relatively slow growing, nice corals.

It does look like sympodium. Which if so I would agree with you that I looks really cool. I've a couple photos online where other have let it grow out to cover all the live rock between other corals like coralline algae You should look at some of them online. If I had some, that's what I would do. Let it grow.

I would agree with this, and have had the same experience. Blue cloves took over, while my blue & green sympodium was very easy to maintain.
