Naming fish?

My wife and two boys name our fish:

Purple Tang - Medusa
Regal Angel - Neptune
Melanarus Wrasse - Oscar
Saddle puffer - Mountaineer
Blue Throat Trigger - Toothless

Pistol shrimp & Gobby- Sherpa & Eyean (Ian)
Mocha clowns - Joe /Mocha
Anthias trio- manage de trois Andy, Candy and Mandy (Poor Andy was found on the floor this week-the girls miss him already-Candy was his "Go to" girl)
Chalk Bass- Billy C. Bass
Orchid dottyback- Sneaky Pete
Royal Grama - Royal "G"
Starry Blenny- Bart Vader
Flame Hawk- Bert too (In loving memory of original Bert)
Flame Angel- D floss
Cherub Angel- Lefty (damaged fin)
Coral Beauty- Blue

Oh i forgot one more fish. I named my flame hawk Rodney Dangerfield. Because i sware to god this fish the way he acts and his beedy eyes.. he looks like rodney dangerfield.

My husband named my flame hawk "Marty"

For the first time in my life I am going to name a fish. I just got 2 marine bettas and I hate that designation.

I am not sure if it's going to be Rasputin, Merlin or Yuri.

I named mine Puff Daddy so you can't use that one.

We haven’t named the snails yet (-: but we may do so for the Nassarius as it’s been there for 8 months now and is quite beautiful the odd time we see it.

In my 180G, I have a yellow goby, a trio of possum wrasses, a pair of scooter blennies, and a school of a dozen small blue reef chromis. I don’t have names for any of them (though I had originally intended to do so).

I *do* however have names for two urchins: Vasco de Gama (blue tuxedo urchin) and Vasco Núñez de Balboa (a Halloween Urchin) aka the “Vasco brothers.”

On a whim, I named them after Portuguese explorers cause they scoot from one end of the tank to the other so fast that it’s almost comical.

I've only named one fish, a bold Undulate Trigger who had a tank to himself. Zach would eat fish and shrimp out of my hand, bang on the glass with his snout when he wanted attention, and frequently rearrange the tank decor by picking up rocks and shells and dropping them elsewhere. Zach bit me once and wound up accidentally flying across the room onto the carpet when I pulled back; he did not bite me again after that.

Their other common name is Comet, which I think is much better sounding and also a more accurate description.

I am so fascinated by that fish that I also don't think the name Comet does it justice. But you're right, it's better than marine betta.

Sometimes I am tempted to name all the 24 fish, because they are almost all pairs with the exception of the 3 clowns and a tomini tang.

I have a lot of fish, and we name all of them we can tell apart. Some of them I name and others get named for me by family members. My favorite fish is a Chocolate Cichlid named Rocco. I have a mated pair of Bengai Cardinals named Jack and Diane. My Long Nosed Hawk is named Rex because he is like a puppy. He is always so glad to see me. Even wags his tail. I have the worst memory of anyone I know, but I can remember the names of all of my fish. We're talking about well over fifty. Go figure.
