Hi all,

Looking for suggestions on free swimming/top swimmer fish for a 5.5 gallon.

I’ve seen all of the suggestions of a small goby and shrimp, but I am really looking for something that swims all over.

Hopefully that makes sense.

I am not new to salt and understand the water quality concerns of a tank this size and the need for constant upkeep.

Thanks in advance!

Haha I should have specified anything but damsels and chromis

The fish police might have something to say about this, but maybe a small firefish or 6-line wrasse. You don't really have a lot of choices. Even a clown will get big after a year. The best bets are probably gobies (but they're not in the water column).

The damsel suggestion was a bit of a joke, but there's actually a few nicely colored damsel species out there if you can source them (yellow, golden, Ambon, yellow-striped, longfin, black spot red, Stegastes, etc.).

What is the best goby for a candy cane pistol shrimp. I with thinking the yasha. Would that get too big?
