Nano: Anyone upgrade the return pump?

I've considered the Tunze 1073.050 for adjustability options but then I would need to adjust the drain valve too. The drain is finicky enough with the steady flow of an AC pump so a DC pump worries me a little. I also like the reliability of the AC pump. The only reason I would bother with a more powerful pump is because I use an RFG nozzle and no additional powerheads. It's been adequate so far so I haven't bothered.
