I've got a 30 rimless nano and trying to figure out what else I can put in there. Right now I've just got two black clowns in there. What else could I keep in this size tank without to much stress on the fish

A Yasha goby or a YW goby paired with a pistol shrimp are pretty cool in nanos.

Never heard of a yasha goby and as far as blennies go I don't know much at all about these guys. Why blennies?

Midas Blenny is my favorite. They have a lot of personalities and they are pretty when they are swinging. Do you have a cover for your tank?

I'm likewise setting up a new nano. 25 gallons. Will have a minimalistic rock scape since I don't have much extra rock. I currently have a black ice clown I'd like to add a mate for and then some other dither fish probably. Chromis.

Here's what I got going on. Plus throw in two black clowns. And some hermits and snails. Filtration I've got carbon and a foam block in the media basket and a slim skim nano. Used five gallons of water from a water change to try and help shorten the cycle then add a cube of food and added some pods from a mesh filter pad I had in the sump of my 40b. Two weeks in had the diatom bloom and did a water change then about a week later added the clowns and CUC.

Just a few belated details. [emoji12]

Dither fish are basically fish that are always out swimming around in the open much like Anthias or chromis

Nano size tanks aren't big enough for anthias though correct? Are there any other dither fish besides these two?

I have the same tank and adding a snowflake clown first was one of my biggest mistakes (I had a pair of black perculas years ago in a larger tank and they didn't bother much so a pair might make them behave better). He/she has beaten up almost everything I have tried to add including several firefish, a sunset anthias and even an orchid dottyback. The only things it won't mess with (or can't) so far is a flame hawk and cleaner goby.

FWIW, Chris

I've had two small clownfish in my nano without a problem in the past.

I've got a buddy that put three chromis in with his pair of snowflakes and never had a problem in a 30 reef octopus nano. How long did you leave the clown alone before adding other fish. I've heard of people having problems if they had time to roam the tank with out any competition. I'm torn atm but I may just end up going with some chromis.

I would stick with peaceful fish to include clown goby, cardinals, chromis, midas or bicolor blenny, royal gramma, fire fish & yellow head jaw fish.

I can't remember exactly how long I left him. I think just long enough to cycle the tank. The problem may have been from the fact several fish in a row I bought died after a couple of weeks of doing well (as marine fish often do) and so that clown did in a way have the tank to itself off and on for a while.
