Nano floating reef build.

We have all seen the gorgeous floating nano reefs, and well there’s a 20 gallon Nuevo fusion in the garage why not start a project. My baby boy was just born and I thought this tank can double as a tank to help baby boy get into the hobby. Im gonna use this thread to document my steps and hopefully get some opinions. This tank will be my second tank. I have a 150 gallon that’s been up for over 2 years now.

currently I have the rocks set up but not glued and I think it’ll will look ok but I could use some constructive criticism. I also think that I placed the mount too high on the back not allowing for much vertical coral growth, but too late to fix that. I will have pics of the rock work soon.

Looks like a fun project! You can always place a groove in the center of your rockscape that inserts into the mount, so that you have rocks above and below it. Marco shelf rock is great for this!

That’s not a bad idea! But how would you cut the groove?

Marco shelf rock has lots of natural flat indentations. I'd just mockup the rock with a duplicate piece of polymer the same size of the horizontal mount, then glue and cement it together. Remove the mockup piece and slide onto the mount in the tank.

Well I finally found the perfect stand! I have everything ready to go and when the stand arrives I’ll finally have the tank running.
I have already purchased a few coral special for the tank.
I will also be able to steal a few coral pieces from my larger colonies in my big tank.
When the stand finally arrives I already have “live” sand ready, and I’ve had a handful of biocubes in my other tank so cycling this tank shouldn’t be an issue.
