I have a 6 gallon nano frag tank. I know that regular water changes will help keep the tank stable. I'm sure it will.

But, I have this biofuel bacteria I add, and it specifically says the product must be used with a skimmer.

How long should I run the skimmer for after adding the biofuel. Directions say wait 4 hours to turn skimmer on, but how long do I keep the skimmer on for.

Some threads say just leave it on 24/7, but I think there may be some downsides to that in a frag tank, especially one so small.

I think it all depends on your nutrients. I assume you are carbon dosing (biofuel) to reduce nitrate and phosphate. If your nutrients are high most would run their skimmer 24/7 to help remove organics before they break down into nutrients. If your nutrients are already low don’t use biofuel and don’t run the skimmer all the time. In my frag tank I run the skimmer only at night to help balance pH with the higher air exchange. But you could just run it for a few hours a day if that’s enough to maintain you manage your nutrients.
