Hi guys
got a quick question. I've set up my aqua-one nano reef 35. what kind of media in the back do you recommend. currently running the stock with sponge and sintered glass. going to remove the sponge for filter floss. should i add anything else?
in the tank i have about 3kg live rock and a skimmer and crushed coral substrate. nothing is wrong with my marine live and corals just wanted some ideas and thoughts. there seems to be heaps of conflicting information on the web like no media, carbon ect
Thanks for the time

I know a lot of folks will run filter floss or polyfilter with carbon/media bags such as Seachem Matrix Carbon or Chemipure Blue Nano. I also run acurel phosphate reducing pads, GFO can be a tad bit overkill for nano aquariums in my experience and phosphates are the only nutrient I can't naturally reduce in my tank.

question would you use filter floss with carbon and fluvals biomax? not trying to hijack the thread but since were on this topic mind as well.

Fluval biomax is essentially porous ceramic media meant to house beneficial bacteria in the same sense that live rock and live sand do. If you have room for it then it wouldn't hurt by any means, but it may also house detritus and other gunk so keep it cleaned out. If space is tight, then you can go without it and opt for other filter media.

sounds good thanks for the input.
