The tank is almost finished cycling. It’s 20G. The salinity is at 1.030. I know that’s a bit high, about an inch and a half of water evaporated during the cycle. Should I just fill it back up with RO, to replace the evaporated water? I am new to this :) Thanks! And Merry Christmas

Most of keep our tanks between 25 and 35 salinity if we have coral. Years ago 25 was the high end but the trend in reefing is for higher density water and now 30 is the average it would seem.

If it was a fish only tank I would say no no higher than 25 simply because lower salinity levels inhibit parasites better.

Otherwise, 30 won't bother fish because thats what a lot of us are already keeping our tanks at and fish couldn't be happier.
