Nano skimmer on a closed lid tank.

Is it possible to install a skimmer on a tank with a built-in full lid?

It has a built in filter compartment and space for the heater which runs right accross the back of the tank.

It is the Interpet 94l reef River and I would like a skimmer, if possible. Any ideas please?

Yes but depends on how much space you have between the water surface and the lid

I looked up the tank and it is displayed with fresh water fish. Is it a fresh water tank? If so, skimmers won't function in fresh water.

A tank that small doesn't need a skimmer as long as you do FAITHFUL, WEEKLY 20% water changes.

But if you insist on a skimmer, I'd think you're only choice would be some kind of external skimmer.

It's set up as Marine. I know fresh won't work with skimmer.

I was thinking of HOB, but space for pipes etc is VERY limited. I do water change as religiously as possible on a weekly basis, but sometimes my health does mean I miss a week.

I have awful brown stringy algae ATM which has appeared over last few weeks. and I am having problems getting rid of it. it looks like diatom on rocks but no sand there's stringy bits going to direction of flow. I clean surface of sand when water changing and brush rocks with toothbrush, but it comes back within days.

tank is almost 9 months old. I am not sure if this is still part of "new tank syndrome"

Nery little space between water surface and lid of tank. I'd guess around an inch. This is my issue. I am wondering if there's a skimmer with small diamater tubes to go into tank and then a type of HOB or something. But really have very little experience with skimmers.
