Nano skimmer Tunze 9001 air

Just bought a Tunze 9001 ac skimmer, I understand there are a few variables in setup but in general is it better to have more air and the skimmer higher in the tank, or less air and the skimmer lower?

I have found mine to work best with the air open fully and the skimmer out of the water higher than the marked level. Actually makes nice dark skimmate.

I’ll give that a try…doing the total opposite atm, hardly any air and low down, getting very light skimmate.
