So I have innovative marine 30L and have used the cab lights PLS-50 and the pumps have crapped out (had two in the past year) so decided to go with the ghost skimmer IM offers and had nothing but problems, not skimming, too much skim, bubbles and the finally rush on the pump shaft causing the needle not to spin right (which was surprised to see rust since most pumps I have seen use a ceramic shaft) all that being said looking for a new reliable skimmer that would work with my IM 30.

I use the aquamaxx hob skimmer on my nuvo 25g lagoon
I have the Aquamaxx HOB-1 on a 20L. It’s the only skimmer I’ve used so I have nothing to compare it to, but apparently it’s one of the best as far as HOBs go.
IME, it either skims too wet, or too dry and thick gunk clogs the neck and never makes it to the cup. The micro bubbles aren’t just annoying, they are unstoppable. I have to wipe moisture from my light fixture daily or it would instantly be covered in salt creep, like every other surface within a foot from the skimmer.
I know noise level is relative but it’s loud. It’s disruptive in fact. I can hear it throughout my house. Sounds like someone slurping milkshake through a straw.
The wet skim smells so bad an accidental whiff makes me gag, which indicates it’s working well and/or my tank is disgusting. I’d say it’s reletively reliable. It’s only been a year but it hasn’t crapped out on me yet.

Using this Reef Octopus Classic 90 HOB Protein Skimmer on the IM 25 Lagoon tank. It was a little tricky setting up because I needed to raise it up in order to get it to stop surging. After modification it’s been working great.

It fits right in stock? Can you use the magnets? My buddy just bought a 25 lagoon and it didn't look like it would fit to me. I have one lying around and it would be great if he could use it.

I don't know if it will fit, but I have been using this Reef Octopus BH50 for a couple of years and I have been very happy with it.

I’m sure it hurts. It hurt my wallet to buy two of your skimmers for them to break with months of purchasing. I have been in contact with yourself, Scott and young lady for more than a year now and have gotten the run around, pumps are not in, pumps are back ordered, pumps are discontinued, pumps are no longer being made, etc. and it’s weird that when I takes to guys last week you didn’t have the pump they had to be specially ordered and would be 2-3 weeks to get them and now they are ready to ship. As you can see this is why I’m frustrated!!
