What skimmer do y’all recommend for the fluval 13.5 gallon tank? I currently have the fluval ps2 skimmer, flippen thing hardly works, I got a good skim out of it once and now I can get it back to skim properly, I top off my water daily, I completely take it apart to clean it, it just doesn’t produce like it should, but you buy cheap stuff you get cheap results. Just need some recommendations

this is my thread on skimmers in nano tanks, you can see what others were thinking, both with skimmer and those without.

the first question I would answer is what issue are you trying to address that isn't being handled by your water changes and current filtration. Personally, I don't see a benefit of removing DOCs for the sake of removing them. If on the other hand, you NO3 and PO4 is too high with water changes, then add a skimmer.

I do have high no3, in my nano, my po4 was .08 last time I check. (Two week ago, I got lazy last week checking again tomorrow) I’m tired of doing water changes on that tank, I know it’s small, but I feel like it’s such a hassle. A 10% in that little tank is HUGE. In my eyes. Doing water changes will help lower levels, but at the same time it could be taking the good nutrition out of my tank, but a skimmer could do the same. That’s why I’m torn.
