Good afternoon R2R!

I have a little Fluval Spec V with a leather and two clowns in it for now. It's been set up for a couple of months, and I'm currently going through the "ugly" phase with some algae on one of the two rock structures. I'm getting ready to go on vacation for about 10 days, and I'm curious what, if any, AFS do you use to feed your nano tank? Most of the ones I'm familiar with will dispense too much food to be useful and cause more problems (see previously mentioned algae) than anything else. Or do you just get a fish sitter to feed a tank this small?

Thanks for the advice!

Honestly, I get a fish sitter any time I'm out. I do not trust auto feeders AT ALL. Especially when I'm going to be away for any length of time. Have a set amount of food pit income of those weekly pill cases for your tank sitter, and teach them how to top off or fill your ATO. You'll be much happier away from the tank knowing it's in good hands.

BTW, cute clowns. ;)
Thank you for the advice. I'm going to get a pet sitter, but I've got a 3 week trip coming up. I was hoping for a few options lol.

And the clowns are awesome! They're CB Stubby Ocellaris from ORA that will generally stay small! I cannot say enough good things about ORA and their fish. I called them direct bc Love Aquaria said they were out of stock. ORA returned my call, told me they had some in stock, and coordinated the sale with LA to ship directly to me. So great!!!

I'd suggest small size (<1mm), floating foods and a food container/ring
That way the food has a chance to be noticed by the fish before it sinks and the container prevents it from going straight into the filtration.

Don't trust auto feeders... I usually ask a close friend of relative to drop by every other day (Just make sure they know the difference between Calcium and fish food, true story), if you have good relation with your local fish store they may be able to put them in a square for the time you are away.

Building the same reef as yours too

You're also building a Nano Spec V? I'd love to know what mods you're doing.

My LFS constantly has fish in their display with various diseases....I won't buy fish from them, or trust them with mine. They are good for some water (when I'm out), basic supplies, and hiring them to stop by....
