Been in the hobby for about 6 plus months and I’ve come across a problem. One of my clowns stopped eating. I just started dosing and I have no clue if that would cause the problem. The tank is fowlr tank. I’ve put Melafix in the water the past 2 days. I’ve noticed the white string out of the fish so I assumed it was bacterial. Still no feeding after two days. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have the 13.5 evo tank and all parameters are in good shape and have been stable. Thanks!

Welcome to R2R! Sorry you clown is not happy and healthy.

White "and" stringy poop is usually internal parasites. The most common way is to treat in a QT with General Cure. It contains both praziquantel and metro. This is especially handy when fish have stopped eating. Dose as directed. Wait 5-7 days. Do a 25% water change and then dose again. Wait 5-7 days. Do a 25% water change. Then observe for 10 days or so.

Thanks! My only problem Is I’m freshly new to the hobby so I’ve not gathered the stuff for a QT tank... so I’m guessing just put the metro in dt?

New Life Spectrum also makes food already medicated for this. It's called Hex Shield.

Thank you I’ve seen people talk about those but I’m just worried that since the clown isn’t eating it if I just need to go the general cure route.

A clownfish can be treated in an old 5 gallon bucket with a preset heater and an internal or HOB filter or even an air stone. You can probably get it all for $20-$30 bucks when you pick up the medications.

IMO, time's not on your side if he stopped eating, so I'd treat as quickly as possible.

Highly recommend you consider General Cure. Because it has both prazi and metro it covers more species of internal worms. And there is an issue with prazi in the Prazipro liquid form. It contains a chemical called oxybispropanol. Oxy helps keep the prazi in solution. Problem is that it uses/robs oxygen from the water. This often harms the fish starving them for O2. In the GC form it is a powder = no oxybispropanol to rob O2.
And it's not a good idea to dose metro into a DT. Can have bad effects on some critters and a DT with sand, rock, etc. can absorb some of the metro making the effectiveness uneven. So it's best in a QT. As @bluprntguy posted, anything can be a QT. Rubbermaid tote type container can work great.

Update: Both clowns are back to feeding regularly and active. General Cure did the trick. Thanks all for the tips and tricks!
