Hey all, I am looking at doing a nano tank. I want it to be no bigger than 8 gallons. Do y'all know of any kits or good aquariums to look at that are good for saltwater. Also, what kind of lighting I would need for it and other stuff. If you could give me a link to what your talking about or the name of it that would help out a lot that way I can see what I'm looking for, for future references. I'm new to saltwater aquariums and I would like to do a reef tank with just a ocellaris clown. I just want to make sure that I do it right and Petco isn't always the best place to go for information saltwater aquariums.

Hi,
Most would agree a clown is not a great choice for a 8g they get pretty big.
ANd check out beginners saltwater links for a little research. If its fish only is a FOWLER you wont need special lighting. Theres some tanks that are AIO all in one. generally called nano cube or bio cube. its a little easier as a first tank and comes turnkey. Plus its easy to find used.

Have you done freshwater tanks?

I actually love the Fluval designs. The smaller ones. Really cool. I have a 6g Edge and love it. However, for a reef, you do need different lighting. Also, make sure to clean a ton as algae will build up fast on them. Oh, mine is hooked to another system through overflow system, so not too sure on the reef idea if it just has a hob. For fish only or just softies, you would be fine though. Just need to adapt a new light. They do have some with built in sump you can check out.

I also like the jbj cubeys. Marine Innovations have some nice ones too. Just depends how much you want to spend. If you are willing to spend the money, get one custom designed to your needs. :)
