Was wondering what you guys use for a wave maker in a nano tank. I am new to the hobby and have a 10 gallon tank as well as a 40 gallon tank. What are some cheap wave makers you guys would recommend for tanks of this size? Keeping mostly softies but looking to get into sps sometime in the future. Cheap but efficient is the goal, I'm on a college budget haha.

I'm a big fan of the Jebao wavemakers in nanos. I personally use a PP4 in my Biocube 14 and it's a great bang for the buck at ~$55. The PP series was their new line in 2016, but I believe the OW series is the new stuff. They're essentially a Vortech-type device, but not quite as nice and not nearly as expensive. It comes with a controller and you can control the mode, speed, and intensity.

They did have reliability issues at one point, but that has seemed to die down in the past year or so. Personally, I've never had an issue with my PP4, but I also pull it out and clean it monthly, so I'm sure that helps. I may upgrade to a Vortech at some point, but that's only because I'm anal about having cords in the display and a Vortech would eliminate that. Functionality wise, Jebao is a good option for a nano.

I added a Jebao Sw-2 for some extra flow recently. Probably about as cheap and strong as you can get. Make sure you maintain them well though, they do get finicky.
