Naoko Fairy Wrasse

Hi, I’m new here and wondering if anyone can help.
A couple of weeks ago my family introduced a Naoko Fairy Wrasse to our tank (alongside a few other new fish) and he has now unfortunately died. It would be great if anyone could suggest what may have happened as we don’t want anything similar to happen again.
Timeline of events -
The fish was stressed when we were acclimatising him but regained normal colour after a short time in the tank
He swam round completely normal for a few days
We then didn’t see him for a couple of days
When we spotted him, he had a small lump on his face and had been hiding in rocks
For the next few days we would spot him hiding in rocks, at times vertical (nose pointing up) and the lump on his face appeared to have grown, I’ve attached a bad imagine of this stage
We tried to get him out the tank to take to the store to be looked at, but we failed to catch him
Today he spent all day lying flat under a rock and was dragged out by our shrimps in the evening once he had died.
We had tried feeding him squirting food into his rocks but he didn’t seem to eat
Any advice on this would be great

The lump you mention could have been a bacterial infection. But it is hard to say for certain without a photo of the lump.

Also, Naokoe is an aggressive wrasse. So this may have done you a favour as it would have limited future wrasse additions.

Keep an eye on your other fish closely for the next two months. See if you notice anything similar on them in that time. Take particular note of any fish that keeps one side of it’s body hidden from you and try to observe the side of the fish that it tries to hide.

If you notice anything, try to post photos of it in the disease forum for identification and help.
