Picked up a Chocolate Tang and a Blond Naso Tang from my LFS on Monday. The Chocolate looked very healthy and eating well and the Naso was a little lethargic. The LFS was a little concerned about it too, but I figured I might be able to help it along.

Brought them both home and did a Paraguard bath and put them in the QT tank. Both fish looked good afterward. I did notice a sore of some sort on the Naso and this morning found it dead. Any idea what might have been going on with the Naso?

This seams like a condition Naso are going through. I've been trying to add a Naso for the last three months lost three to the same issue.

Thanks for the reply and link. Should I be worried about the Chocolate being infected as well? I'm continuing with the Paraguard treatment, is there anything else I should be doing? My plan was keep treating with Paraguard for a week and then start Cupramine for 2 weeks.

I would ditch the Paraguard, and switch over to using a real antibiotic: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/antibiotics.283711/

Dosing Seachem Kanaplex should do nicely, in case this is a gram negative bacterial infection.

I’m getting in 2 Blonde Nasos tomorrow, so we’ll see if I get hit with whatever this is as well.

Good luck to you. It not fun seeing a perfect specimen eating well swimming and looking well. And in the third week of QT die in two days.

I might have to hit those QTs preemptively with Kanaplex. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the advice. I'm using Paraguard because that's what I have on hand. I actually ordered some Kanaplex after I saw your first response. I will probably stop by the LFS to see if they have any today, as I don't want to wait for it to be delivered.

Furan-2, Neoplex, Sulfaplex, Triple Sulfa would all be some other good options.
