i am posting the original post but was told that i might have to do some kids of antibiotic for him if he continues not to eat .

my naso tang (oscar) was chasing a piece of algae around the tank like he always does i think he plays with it. anyway one sec i looked and he was chasing the algae and the next he face planted the intake 3/4 inch pipe and got stuck and sucked in just round his mouth and there is bruising around his mouth i quickly shut off the pump and slowly pulled him out and at first was lifeless but turned around and turned black with spots and hid. now you can see the bruising around his mouth hes not moving it much at all and has has refused food even his treats he is swimming around but he is pointed up like he is looking at the lights and some times swims speeds from one end of the tank to the other side but he is staying in a low current area what do i need to do for him to give him the best chance ...... he is a very loved part of our family please... any advise would be great..

Epsom salts, plain old USP grade with no additives will help with swelling if any.
Epsom Salt: Treats eye and other injuries. Popeye in one eye usually means injury, but popeye in both eyes usually denotes a bacterial infection requiring antibiotic treatment. Cloudy eye can be a bacterial infection or flukes.

How To Treat - 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of aquarium water. Repeat only once, if necessary. Use only “USP” grade Epsom salt.

Pros - Reef safe, as Epsom salt is just magnesium sulfate.

Cons/Side Effects - The effects of excessive sulfate in a reef aquarium are not fully known.
