My naso stopped eating. This well be the second day. She always ate like a horse. Any kind of nori. alge wafers. And frozen. No new fish. parameters are all good. no signs of stress or disease. Had her for 8 months now. Any thoughts?

I took one crack at a Naso. It seemed healthy for about 6 months— swam and ate normally— but I noticed all the other fish were growing yet it was basically staying the same size. (The tank is a FOWLR so I was able to bomb it with API General cure.) Anyway, after about six months of seeming to do OK, he went downhill and died within about three days. All the other fish in the tank continue to do well. I don’t know if I will try another and they sell in the future. Probably not. The only thing I can say is that after I bought him I read that they need a super-saturation of oxygen, due to the sector of water they come from in the reef. I don’t know. I run a skimmer and have powerheads, naturally.

As my handle implies, I love Naso's. Any change you gave her a bunch of any type of live macros? Reason I ask is I lost mine of 3 years a few months ago. Days before I feed her caleurpa that I normally just throw away. Well I later learned they cant digest the stems very well and likely clogged up the intestines. Basically died from constipation. Just a thought.

Look for signs of bullying. Finely nipped fins. Discoloration from hits to their side.

Starvation is a potential sign of changes of the hierarchy of territory

Sorta like when I'm reminded my importance in my own household ranks among the houseplants

A fish deals with a shrinking territory by starving, which leads to perished

Take a look at for any changes:
Water temp
salinity
PH
ammonia
nitrate
Redness in gills or faster breathing than normal

Not abnormal.
It’s not the most aggressive tang and short periods of not eating can result from an argument in pecking order, almost like a shulk.
I have a Yellow that does this every 4-6 months, for 10-15 days, then, seems just to be back to normal one day.
Just watch, change nothing, while stopping eating can be a sign of an infection, on its own, is not enough IMM to attempt any remedy.
But watch carefully, for any additional behavioral change an be ready to act if needed.

Naso is the only tang for now. And is the biggest fish in tank. I'll keep an eye on her. Thanks for the replies.
