Naso Tangs are dropping like flies

I use a 20 gallon. It has some plastic aquarium decor and PVC pipes. I only set it up when I plan to buy fish. I use a hang on filter, a power head, a crappy LED light, and a heater. I set it up in my living room where I can easily clean it. When I'm done I clean it and put it away.

Those blotches I see in the pic are when a naso tang gets stressed they dissplay them I have not read the whole thread but the damseals you say you have can get very aggresive Also who fed the tank for u are u 100% positve they didnt put there hands in your tank and possibly had some cologne or perfume on that got into tank and killed the 2 fish and did the 2 tangs ever fight with each other ???

Have a 300 and didn't qt a hippo. He came down with ich and ended up pulling out all rock/coral to get last 3 chromis. Luckily had old 90g still running so was able to treat there. DT had to sit 2 months with no additions and no fish.

I now have 40b with emperor 400 which fits in bottom of DT stand. New rule, all coral and fish must qt minimum 45 days better 60.

I see a lot of little blue fish in the tank... Blue Damsels, I believe... if so, they do get very territorial and tend to bother even larger fish... and I have experienced aggression from the Yellow Tangs when they have been in the tank for months then adding new fish to the tank... sounds like you added the NASO's last... that may be where the stress is coming from... just a thought...

Crazy when seemingly healthy fish drop dead, I would lean heavily towards velvet, but absolutely NOT nitrates as a few are insisting. That being said, the qt which you're headed towards is your solution. As far as the Velvet Damsel, I've vowed NEVER EVER to use damsels or even chromis in any of my reefs, I've even seen green chromis pick out their little territory and take swipes at others, but I must say, Velvets top the list of gigantic jerks and if you ever get the opportunity, remove it and never add one again, beautiful when small, ugly when big, and jerks at any size!

This is a common problem that I have anytime I add a new Naso tang. I have show size fish and many other smaller fish in my tank. Once i lost my original Naso, it has been impossible to replace it. I have bought 4 more fat healthy large Nasos but all have died within 2 months after introducing them to the tank. They have died of starvation. I never could never get the tangs to fight for the food as the other fish are very aggressive at feeding time.

This is another example of why QT is so important. It's not just for disease treatment but to try and condition them to eating in an aquarium.
