I would like feedback on what is better for the substrate. I have a couple inches of Fiji pink sand.

It depends on the size of your tank. Sand sifters are rumored to run out of food in smaller tanks and end up starving. I’ve had mine in a 4 foot tank for 2 years and it seems fine. I will eventually trade it in and get a diamond goby. I had one for a while and it did a much better job at keeping the sand clean. Just gotta keep a lid on the tank.

Hi, I have both, but prefer Nassarius snails. They come up from the sand bed and eat all the left over food but keeping the sand bed clean. Also mine have reproduced in the tank.

I like nassarius snails. They don't really eat the critters out of the sand. They just keep it stirred well and eat leftover food off the substrate.

Of the two in question I’d pick the nassarius snails. I do have a small diamond goby and dang that dude puts in work. Not only does he clean the sand leaving it white, he eats every scrap of food either pellet or mysid shrimp that lands down there. He’s a porker now. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks; just bought a sleeper goby.
