Nassarius snail out of its shell

Hey guys. Like the title says, I have a nassarius snail cruising around without a shell! What the heck?!? Anybody ever seen that before?

Most likely not a nassarius - shells are part of the body. Are you sure it isn't a stomatella?

It is absolutely a nassarius. They're all I have. It still has the "snout" and all.

That's a nudibranch of some sort, not a snail. Can you get a better photo that shows the colors?

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but this IS A NASSARIUS snail. This thread was not asking what this was, but showing you guys I had a nassarius snail that had come out. The pictures are horrible iphone pictures, but trust me, it's a snail. It has the flat foot part, the long elephant trunk, part, and the two antenna-looking things, with the body coiled up on top. I've read about it, it's not terribly uncommon, their tendon breaks, and they slip out of their shell. It's just that usually they are eaten very quickly by something. Here is a pic from the web of EXACTLY what mine looks like.

I read that they cannot reattach themselves, but may (doubtfully) regrow one...

I had one pulled out of its shell by a blue leg hermit, it cruised around the tank for a few days like that before it died.

I know it's a dead thread but this just recently happened to me looks to have been stollen by a hermit

Same thing happened to me today. My narcissus was looking very lethargic the past few weeks and today I found him dead outside his shell. I'm certain it wasn't my hermit because he's still in his own shell. I have three of um the other two are larger and all doing fine.

I wonder if its possible for them to outgrow there shell due to an abundance of food i read on Aquarium breeder.com these guys can "consume between 50 to 60% of body weight on average 8 – 12 minutes".

Poor guy couldn’t handle the flow with out the weight of his shell

I got one out today he cruises around till he hits stronger flow then it pushes him around. Curious to see how long it lives I really thought they'd die if out of their shell
