Just cleaned the skimmer neck and cup about 3 days ago.

Mine looks like that too! Doesn't take very long to get dirty again. My Avast marine Swabby, and my super skimmate locker just came for my Vertex Alpha 250 today! After I get that all installed tomorrow It's gonna be a LONG time before I have to clean mine again!

Great video, reef octopus skimmers always seem to do a great job, and break in really easy, my elite 200 is a beast

Man, there is nothing better. I have a Swabbie and skimmate locker on my skimmer and they are awesome. Haven't cleaned the neck yet and only time I clean the cup is when I want to see inside it, not due to need. @revhtree , look at the Swabbie and definitely super skimmate locker. It'll make your nasty video into a happy but still nasty video.

HAHA! That actually made me laugh out loud. There are times, just from my experience, when the cup and tube from the Davy Jones needs to be taken and cleaned. The tube gets clogged with junk. Easy to tell when to clean it though; skimmer cup starts filling.

i have the swabbie and skim mate locker and will probably not do the swabbie again.

here's why, the neck cleaner works, but the gunk starts to gather in bulk on the wiper blade...eventually it gets heavy and falls to the skimmer bubble plates....
i still plan on keeping the skim mate locker, so i don't have to drain the cups, or if the skimmer goes crazy it automagically stops when the skim mate locker fills up...

but i am considering just the locker and then manually cleaning the neck and body by simply putting my hand in...its wide enough to fit inside (vertex omega 180i) without needing me to remove the cup

Good to know, when I service mine I will routinely check the nut and keep an eye on it to make sure I don't lose it down in the skimmer! Thank you for the heads up

not the nut, actual doo doo accumulates within few days on the viper then falls off due to how heavy it is..
ill snag a pic when i clean next...

See how the gunk fell to the bottom ... that's like my dog took a dump in the skimmer
