Nasty water

Mixed up some salt water last week in a 5 gallon pail and it’s been sitting all week now it smells and there are all sorts of solids at the bottom. Using reef crystals

Regular Instant ocean and Reef crystals are famous for precipitation in their mixes. You should really get a small powerhead and keep the water circulating if you're gonna let it sit for awhile. Reef Crystals contains organics which have now gone anaerobic. The odor is a buildup of hydrogen sulfide. I'd dump it.

Thanks I dumped it I’ve been away from the hobby for about 20 years so it’s like starting all over again
