It has started. Just added 20lbs of live black sand and sorting through all my dry rock (old live from previous tanks), light fixture is getting ordered soon. Going to get a Kessil A160WE. I have a fluval 106 and the middle chamber as filters, see how it works out. I'll post an update once the tank has cycled and the light comes in

Suggestions on a power head for a biocube14? The one I have now just blows sand everywhere no matter what position I put it in.

I have an MP-10 in my 19 gallon cube and I think it's perfect dialed in about 1/2 way. Not sure if it would be overkill for a 14 though. What were you planning to keep?

I'm not sure yet, trying to make up my mind. Really wanted to do a clown pair, but I just feel the tank is too small. I'm open to suggestions

Awesome choice of tanks ;) I absolutely love this tank, perfect size. Can't wait to see what you do with it

I personally don't have a powerhead. I got a koralia 160 (? whatever the smallest one is) and within a week half of my ricordeas had melted.... So I said F it and just kept the stock pump. Just recently installed a replacement return pump higher with lockline so that I could agitate the surface and prevent the biofilm buildup. Even with the stock pump everything seemed happy except acros which I did not get great PE or color out of. Also my clowns seem perfectly being the proverbial and literal big fish in the tiny pond :)

Awesome info! Thank you. Just ordered my Kessil 160 today, I'll post an update once I have it! Excited to get this thing going

Take a look at this powerhead. Half the price of an MP10, German engineering, and probably the smallest wavemaker.

good luck!! ive had a biocube 29 for some time now!

Kessils are awesome but powerful, you may want to keep it on the lower end of intensity especially when you get new coral. What are you planning on keeping in here anyway?

Good to know! Probably just going to stick with softies and a clown pair. See what happens, and go from there

Softies are great but definitely wanna make sure you don't got too much flow if you want to keep mushrooms... I finally just gave up on ricordeas as they've been ridiculously slow growing and finicky for me. I decided I'd rather have more room for zoas anyway :P

Yeah seems like a good places for me to jump back into the game. Ready for some trial and error! Just found out my mount for the Kessil got refunded for some reason. Have to reorder. Bummer!
