hi there I’m wanting to convert my 95 gallon discus aquarium to salt water. I’m currently using the white national Geographic sand. Will I need to change my substrate? Planning on live rock and simple fish to start. Currently using aqua clear 500 also. What will I need folks lol hoping someone can advise me

Welcome to R2R! I would suggest getting new sand. The Fiji pink or Fiji white sand would come pretty close to what you've got. With that sand being in freshwater, unless you wash it, dry it out, I wouldn't reuse it.

Hello DarkAlic, welcome to R2R. You need a type of sand that's argonite based. Not absolutely necessary but is best. Not sure about your sand but some is silica based & I think this isn't good in salt water.

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef!!

I've been bare bottom for years.

If I ever went back to a sand bed it would have the be those "Reef Flakes" than Premium Aquatics sells.

Agian,
Welcome, and hope you feel at home.

:)

Welcome!
I also like the fiji pink from brs would come to about 2 40lb bags around $90.

The National Geographic(petsmart brand) is inert so silica based.
I would not use. Tbh i would not use anything petsmart brand except hoses and tubes in saltwater.
