In the winter 3 of my tanks get direct sunlight for around an hour towards the end of the day. It hasn’t caused any problems for any of the tanks. The glass may grow a little more film algae because of the sun.

I block outside light.
It’s not the best and in my case, brought a ton of algae about 6 months in….covered everything…..blocked the light and it all died away.

Honestly I’d take some algae on the sandbed for my conches… they’ll vacuum it up fast. Keeps them fed.

I had a tank parked right in front of a window. Clams seemed to love it. Noticed no negative effects.

Here is an example of a tank purposely lit by a skylight. Natures free lighting system if you live in the right part of the world.

Isn't it literally the best? Corals have spent millions of years evolving to best utilize sunlight.

At my old house my tank used to get about an hour of sun bouncing off the lake out back every morning. Was cool to see everything basking in the morning sun.
