Natural Salt Water (may be a dumb question)

I live within walking distance of the Atlantic ocean here in Florida, Is it possible to use Natural salt water in your tank if available?

yes it is possible and alot of people do. if you can use nsw i would

Yes you can with some work to make it safe. There are threads on the process but basically u have to filter you the bad parasites he ocean has to offer before its safe

Depends also how close to shore you get it from? From what I understand most reefers who use NSW get it at least a couple miles off shore. Basically too close to shore may give water with some form of pollution, etc.

Well I am not an expert but NSW is what I use all the time. Our local aquarium pumps it in from the ocean and puts it through their filtration set up and then stores it for their use. They were nice enough
to put a tap so that the local hobbiest can get all that they want. And the best thing about it is that it is FREE.

Go out to the gulf stream to get it otherwise wouldnt chance just going to the beach with a bucket. Probably be okay for a while but then there's that one time you get something nasty and entire tank crashes because too many variables out of your control.

I live in Satellite Beach as well and I wouldn't condsider using the water close to shore. As Pappy said you would have to trek to the gulf stream to get clean enough water to have a succesful reef tank. You could however collect some things from in and around Sebastian Inlet to house in a tank and prob be okay with water from a strong incoming time.
