Yes, its just sand. Lol. As long as it is not silica sand your great. I like the pink stuff so I haven't tried it personally but I know people that use it. Just as many diatom blooms as the leading wet live sand.

For a 10g tank i would go and find the coolest looking sand you can possibly find. A tank that small gives you much more leniency as far as budget. 10lbs of the most expensive anything is usually cheaper than my 90g tanks crap cost. Exponentially your options are much more within a reasonable budget.

Buy Marine related products from your local LFS. They can get you sand or someone online. I hate the big pet shops doing marine life products and fish and corals. Give them money and soon anything you want you will have to shop there like a animal walmart. Let them do the dog and cat thing those monster stores can do some damage on fish and corals for the rest of us.

What sand would you recommend?

I try to support my LFS as much as possible. I usually buy from them, but I also have other pets and I find myself at chain stores here and then. I saw that particular sand I really like it. I do have Caribsea products in my two of my previous tanks, I just wanted some insight on "Nature's Ocean Marine Sand" as it isn't to expensive and I wanted to throw a quick tank together for my fiancee who wants two firefish.

I'd agree to buy at the LFS. Even if it's not the cheapest, the advice you get along with your purchase is priceless.

12g Nanoreef. Zooanthids, Ricordia, Star Polyps, Acans and two clownfish. CF Lighting, 75% actinic blue, 25% 10,000k white.

Be careful though:
The lfs near me will sell you fish and Sand at the same time with no question.

Really O.o. None of the LFS near me will let me walk out the door with fish and sand unless they know that the fish is for one tank and the sand for another. One of the guys at my local Petco is the same way he's really serious about the hobby.

Yeah this place is whack. The only 2 people who are aloud to scoop dead fish out of the tanks work 9-4 on weekdays...the owner and his wife. Friday at 4:01 If there is a dead fish its there til Monday morning. Only in saltwater though...like it matters what kind of water it is when your scooping out the deceased. They sell fish food in sealed packages and that is the only reason I go there. Lol. Live stock is all at least an hour drive or more. Not worth it.
