Difficult to tell secondary to the angle (fish are so uncooperative) but it looks like it could be parasite, like a type of monognean parasite.

Let experts chime in though.

Can you define it a little please? Is it flat, round, hairy, slimy etc? Just a stab in the dark here, maybe a parasitic Isopod?

Yea it’s difficult to get a fish to pose for a picture, and yet, even harder to describe a picture on google!
I did come across a clownfish that had a similar growth but brown. Said it was worms. Maybe. Let’s see those saltwater vets

It’s round but it kinda looks like a mushroom (edible not saltwater). Flat. White. It comes out the two fins on the underside.

I would catch her and get her in a small container and check her over. If it is a parasite, gently remove it.

Ok. so I see what you are referring to and the first step here would be a freshwater dip to see if that dislodges it.

Does anything in the link below look familar? (hopefully not)

Is the fish scratching or flashing at all? Is the fish eating well?
Nope. No parasites. Spent close to 1 hour inspecting it from every angle I could. It’s on its belly. It’s not eating, yet.

I dosed the first round of prazi last night and this morning the growth has come off!!!
Now time to get her to eat. I’ll keep monitoring it and getting it to eat and dose again when the time comes.

Thanks to all that have chimed in. This is a wonderful site with knowledgeable membera
