I have a monitor digita that has developed some black fuzz in some of the polyps on a branch or two. It looks as if the branch itself is rotting (?). I'm new to this reef stuff so not sure.

Also the polyps at the base of the coral down to the frag plug are dead or retracted severely (about 1" of no polyps). Everything above is fine.

I recently was given this piece from someone's frag tank. It's about 3" high x 2.5" wide and a nice piece other than the above comments.

Is this necrosis? Should I be concerned about this? Should I just try to frag this or wait and see?

Can you post a picture of it?

As Flippers indicated. . . . A pic or two under good lights (not just blue) will be of great help for an assessment

The red indicates areas of concern. The blue represents where the blackening was happening in polyps. Digitata are fragile so I just snapped off that portion to prevent it from spreading. Should I do the same with the bottom of this coral and frag the top? The red circle represents where I snapped off a dead branch. There is still some skeletal portion remaining. That branch had aiptasia and was green with algae on it. This piece came to me from another person frag tank and I just need some good opinions as to its overall health.
