Need a Better HOB Skimmer

I am have been using an Aquamaxx HOB skimmer for two years on a 30g.
BUT even after complete cleaning it just doesn't skim anymore.

I am ready to replace it,
What is a better Hang on the Back skimmer?
I am now looking at the Reef Octo classic 1000.

THoughts? Is there a way to greatly improve the Aquamaxx, or just replace it?

I just did another cleaning and took it 100% apart.

I put Q-tips through every hold in the diffuser, BUT when I removed the yellow
tubing the plastic white elbow connector was 1/2 plugged, I cleaned that out with a toothpick
and NOW see Image #2 - WOW, the bubble are out of control
