Need a camera lens recommendation...

Ok guys I see so many beautiful pictures of other peoples corals on these forums and I have to know what lens everyone is using. I have seen people say that they use a macro lens, is this what everyone is using to take these pictures? Anyways can someone help me out with picking up a lens please. I have a Nikon D5100 and up until I decided I wanted to take pictures of my corals it has been working out just fine for me for the last 2 years. The camera came with two lenses (55-200mm and 18-55mm) that have been working out great for day to day pictures but I can't capture the beauty of my coral with either one of them.

Pretty much you will need a macro lens....tamron 90mm f2.8 will be perfect for you. eBay should have plenty used one.

I have a sony camera with 100mm f2.8......love every single pictures I took.

Tamron Macro 60-90, 90 getting you the closest. Great lens easy to manage.

I have an 5100 also.
Try to get at least 100mm. Bigger the better.
If you are going to use just for macro shooting. You will only use the lens in manual mode.
The big question is... money.
You can buy used off brand up to new Nikon 200mmm. 200-1700 dollars.
I bought an used Tokina 100mm off craigslist for 225. It has good reviews.
If you can wait, I would look at craigslist and find a bargain. I have seen the Nikon 105mm there. The older model for 350 and the new one for 700.
Now I just have to figure out to how to quickly edit my images in raw format and make the colors pop. White color...
